Third workshop on the implementation of Quality Assurance System at the University of Montenegro

Podgorica – The goal of the final workshop on implementation of Quality Assurance System at the University of Montenegro was to present experiences in implementation of the Quality Assurance System at the universities in Austria, give comparison with the University of Montenegro and discuss relevant issues which will be reflected in the QA guidelines. The workshop took place on 14th June 2010 at the Rectorate building of the University of Montenegro.

Participants of the workshop were members of the Steering Board, extended Rector’s Collegium, QA team and members of the Student Parliament of the University of Montenegro. Professor Dietmar Brodel, who is the Rector of Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and Dean of the School of Management, gave his introductory presentation covering the following topics: enrolment of students, internship and practical work, teaching materials and their adjustments, student workload, and professor workload, mostly focusing on experiences of the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and other Austrian universities.

Professor Brodel`s presentation was followed up by the presentation of Professor Zoran Veljovic, Professor Dragoslav Nenezic and Professor Aleksandar Vujovic of the University of Montenegro who delivered the presentations on the teaching materials, internships and workload of professors and students at the University of Montenegro for the purpose of comparison with the experiences at the universities in Austria and in order to entice discussion. The final presentation on the principles and regulations which underpin the enrolment of students at the University of Montenegro was given by Professor Mitar Misovic, Director of the Quality Assurance Centre.

The discussion mostly focused around contested issues such as frequency and justification for the adjustment of teaching material, internships and practical work as integral components of study programmes, workload of professors and their other duties, and selection and quality of students as well as the number of students which should be allowed for enrollment in order to preserve/enhance quality of teaching and learning at faculties.
