Training for University Management within TEMPUS Project "From Quality Assurance to Strategy Development (QASD)"

Sarajevo/ Neum. WUS Austria has the pleasure to inform you that from 08 – 09 May 2008, the last in a series of four trainings was successfully held at Hotel Zenit in Neum.

The training, “The Role of Management in Internal Quality Assurance Processes”, was primarily targeted at university management.

This training, together with the past 3 trainings which were aimed at students, university administration and teaching staff was organized within Tempus project ’’From Quality Assurance to Strategy Development (QASD)’’ (UM_JEP-41078-2006).

Specific objectives of this project are:

  • To initiate, enable, support and implement internal quality control processes at each BH University
  • To plan, develop and formulate modern, student-oriented university strategies

The overall aim of the project is to contribute to a coherent and far-reaching reform of higher education in B&H in accordance with the Bologna Process and in accordance with the society and market needs. In order for this objective to be achieved, universities in B&H need to develop modern, student-oriented strategies, which will pave the path towards the university's long-term goals.

During the first three trainings, up to 150 students, administrative workers and teachers from all BH universities were educated on their specific roles and obligations in internal QA processes. At the final training held from 08 – 09 May, 2008 in Neum, around 50 representatives of the universities in B&H, mostly from management and administration structures participated at the training and workshop on the specific roles and obligations of management of the universities in internal QA processes.

Wolfgang Benedek, PhD, WUS Austria Chairman and representative of Project Contractor, Karl-Franzens University, Graz took part in this training delivering the presentation about the significance of the management's role in project implementation at an integrated university.

Oliver Vettori, MSc, Head of Office, Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration took part in this training, as well as in previous three trainings, as an EU expert. He delivered presentations and lectures on the content and practical skills needed by university management, as a stakeholder group, in the processes of university self-evaluation and internal quality assurance processes.
