Kosovo Accreditation Agency and SHER Co-Host 3rd Annual Higher Education Conference
On 30 September 2025, the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA), in partnership with the SHER Programme, successfully organized the 3rd Annual Conference on Higher Education and Quality Assurance under the theme “Internationalized Higher Education: Overcoming Borders and Bringing People Together.” The event gathered over 150 participants from more than 15 countries, including distinguished experts, rectors, professors, ambassadors, and representatives of international quality assurance organizations.
The conference was officially opened by Ms. Hasnije Ilazi, President of the State Council of Quality of KAA, alongside addresses from ambassadors of Croatia, Finland, and Austria, and the Managing Director of WUS Austria, Ms. Veronika Nitsche. Keynote speakers Ms. Doris Herrmann (ENQA) and Mr. Peter Levente Lakatos (MAB/ENQA) emphasized the importance of trust and robust quality assurance frameworks in fostering student mobility and maintaining credibility within the European Higher Education Area. Mr. Aleksandar Susnjar (EQAR) highlighted the significance of adhering to the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) to ensure global recognition of higher education systems.
Four thematic sessions explored critical aspects of internationalization: cross-border cooperation and joint programs, the global influence on national accreditation systems, maintaining quality in transnational education, and the contribution of the Kosovar diaspora to academic excellence. Panelists shared best practices and innovative approaches to aligning Kosovo’s higher education with European and international standards.
Throughout the conference, participants reaffirmed that quality assurance is rooted in trust, transparency, and collaboration. With SHER’s continued support and KAA’s leadership, Kosovo’s higher education sector is advancing toward greater internationalization and quality alignment. SHER is proud to be a long-term partner of KAA in strengthening policy, institutions, and global cooperation in higher education.
