The art project ŠTO TE NEMA - Why aren‘t you here? – has been dedicated to commemorating the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide since 2006. How can we address and prevent the devastating violence that erupted among people who once lived together in peace? With ŠTO TE NEMA, Bosnian-American artist Aida Šehović uses art as a means of healing, resistance, and action.

Aida Šehović was born in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1977. Šehović earned her BA with Honors from the University of Vermont and her MFA as a Jacob K. Javits Fellow from CUNY Hunter College. Recent exhibitions include Ars Aevi Nucleus Kyiv, Canadian Museum of Human Rights, Kunsthaus Dresden, Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, KRAK Center for Contemporary Culture, Laumeier Sculpture Park, and ARTIVISM: Atrocity Prevention Pavilion during the 58th Venice Biennale.
