SHER – Expert visit to Kosovo

From June 10-13, 2025, WUS Austria conducted an expert visit as part of the SHER Programme. On June 12, a dedicated workshop for the development of a Gender Equality Plan (GEP) was held at the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj (UASF), bringing together academic and administrative staff and gender experts to co-develop a roadmap for advancing gender equality at the institution.

The workshop opened with remarks from Prof. Agron Bajraktari, Rector of UASF, who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to an inclusive and equitable academic environment. This was followed by an input from Ms. Louise Sperl, Head of Projects at WUS Austria, who shared Austrian experiences and best practices in gender mainstreaming in higher education. Prof. Ardiana Gashi, Gender Equality Expert and SHER Project Consultant, facilitated the interactive sessions and guided participants through the structured process. Next steps include finalizing the Action Plan and establishing mechanisms for its implementation, coordination, and monitoring.

The programme SHER - Sustainable Higher Education and Research in Kosovo aims to contribute to a sustainable, evidence-based, needs-oriented and gender-responsive Higher Education and Research sector in Kosovo that is in line with the principles of EHEA, ERA, and SDG 4 and 9 and is implemented by WUS Austria (project lead) together with ZSI and OeAD and is funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation and co-financed by the Kosovo Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI).
