HERAS WORKSHOP - APPLYING A HUMAN RIGHTS BASED APPROACH IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Prishtina. More than 45 participants took part in the HERAS workshop “Applying a human rights-based approach in higher education” on 17 April 2019. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST), higher education institutions, NGOs, students as well as international experts. The workshop addressed central aspects of higher education from a human rights perspective, following up on the findings from the first HERAS HRBA workshop in July 2017. This included areas such as curriculum development from a human rights perspective or the institutionalisation of human rights at higher education institutions. Furthermore, the workshop explored the role and possible contributions of HEIs in addressing challenges related to human rights in society. The workshop also provided a platform for participants to exchange views, best practices from Kosovo and abroad as well as current trends of applying a human right based approach and fostering the Social Dimension of higher education in Kosovo in line with the Bologna Process.

The project “HERAS – Higher Education, Research and Applied Science” aims at contributing to the well-functioning of Higher Education and Research in Kosovo along the principles of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and the European Research Area (ERA) with the long-term objective to support the socio-economic development of the country.
