CDP+ Award ceremonies in Montenegro and Serbia
After two years of project implementation, the Award Ceremonies represent the final step of the CDP+ programs. On November 13th, 2007, the best projects were announced at the Rectorate Conference Hall of the University of Montenegro. Three days later, on Friday, November 16th, 2007, WUS Austria organized the Award Ceremony for Serbia at the premises of the Novi Beograd municipality in Belgrade.
Podgorica. After two Selection Panels, which took place at the beginning of April and at the end of June last year, WUS Austria supported 15 projects consisting of the same number of courses. When it comes to the involvement of various faculties, the figures are as follows:
Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics: 2 projects
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering: 2 projects
Faculty of Philosophy: 2 projects
Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology: 1 project
Faculty of Civil Engineering: 1 project
Faculty of Medicine: 1 project
Music Academy: 1 project
The
number and diversity of faculties involved demonstrates that the
information dissemination campaign was performed well and that the CDP+
program and its significance aroused large interest. Through the CDP+
not only the development of innovative courses was supported, but also
needed technical equipment was provided for new or modified courses.
The total amount approved by the Selection Committee was EUR 77.435,09,
which was spent for equipment (not counting the co-financing by the
University of Montenegro), lecturer grants, study visits and
literature. In addition, we also organized two ECTS training seminars
in Budva and enabled the publishing of 15 scripts (one for each
subject), which were financed by the faculties themselves.
The Award Ceremony for the best projects implemented within the Course Development Program for the period of 2005-2007 was held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 in the Rectorate conference hall, in the presence of project coordinators, ADA and WUS Austria. After the introductory speeches, delivered by Mr. Goran Drakul (WUS Austria) and Mr. Gerhard Schaumberger (Austrian Coordination Office in Podgorica), Mr. Goran Ostojic (WUS Austria), announced the awarded projects.
The three different awards were granted as follows:
First Award in the category BEST OVERALL COURSE: CDP+ Project no. 205/06 “VLSI (Very Large Scale Design)” went to Prof. Nikša Tadić, PhD, Faculty of Electrical Engineering (awarded with EUR 1000)
Second Award in the category BEST CONTENT: CDP+ Project no. 210/06 “Design of power electronic converters” went to Prof. Vladan Vujičić, PhD, Faculty of Electrical Engineering (awarded with EUR 700).
Third Award in the category BEST METHODOLOGY: CDP+ Project no. 209/06 “Technical Physics” went to Prof. Nevenka Antović, PhD, Faculty of Civil Engineering (awarded with EUR 500).
Next to the project coordinators/lecturers, the hosting faculties were also honored and received Certificates of Excellence.
The successful implementation of CDP+ projects has created positive effects on the ongoing Higher Education Reform in Montenegro and demonstrated the need of continuation of such support in the future.
Belgrade. Three days after the ceremony in Podgorica, the Serbian Award Ceremony for CDP+ projects took place. Representatives of the Serbian state universities, the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Serbia, as well as deans and lecturers involved in the Course Development Plus Program participated in the ceremony on the 16th of November.
Dusan Bugarski, Deputy Head of the WUS Belgrade office gave a short summary of the results achieved after the successful implementation of the program. Hans Joerg Hummer of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) spoke about future cooperation plans between the Austrian Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Serbian state universities. Finally, Goran Ostojic, Regional Manager of WUS Belgrade, announced the best projects in three categories:

Second Award in the category BEST CONTENT: Prof. Tomislav Pavlovic, University of Nis, Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics: “Physics and Techniques of Solar Energy” (awarded with EUR 700)
Third Award in the category BEST METHODOLOGY: Prof. Stasa Babic, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philosophy: “Classical Archaeology and Anthropology” (awarded with EUR 500)
