Kick-off Meeting of HERAS in Prishtina

The project “HERAS – Higher Education, Research and Applied Science” was successfully launched today in Prishtina. Approximately, 70 participants attended the event, mainly officials from the Ministry, Public Universities, Research Agencies, Civil Society Organisations, representatives of international organisations. 

The event was opened by Mr. Arsim Bajrami, Minister of Education, Science and Technology and Mr. Gernot Pfandler, Ambassador of Austria in Prishtina, herein, both parties signed the protocol of co-financing for implementation of HERAS project. Mr. Bajrami welcomed the support of the Austrian Government that has been pledged lately and stated that without support and cooperation of the Austrian, the higher education reforms in Kosovo would not be happening as they should. From the other side, the Ambassador Pfandler stated that Austrian Government, through the Austrian Development Agency is happy to fund a project of this scale which aims high in joint-agendas of strengthened cooperation between the government of Austria and Kosovo in the field of higher education. To this end, the Ambassador echoed that HERAS project will ultimately contribute to the well-functioning of Higher Education and Research in Kosovo with the long-term objective to support the socio-economic development of the country.

 

HERAS is implemented by WUS Austria, Leading Consortia in partnership with Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI), Vienna and Austrian Agency for International Mobility and Cooperation in Education, Science and Research (OeAD).

 

Funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) with funds of Austrian Development Cooperation, and co-financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Republic of Kosovo (MEST).
