Kick-off meeting and strategy workshop within the project "Needs Assessment, Strategy and Policy Development for National Technology Transfer Office" held in Skopje, Macedonia 2nd and 3rd of February 2015

Based on a comprehensive desk and field research, this Consortium of two Austrian organisations will elaborate all relevant documents and implement necessary actions required for the founding of a National Technology Transfer Office. Its establishment will be of great relevance for Macedonia, since it will boost innovation and research capacities in the country, create better linkage between universities/research institutions and industry, and support knowledge and technology transfer. Through this centre capacities of both universities and the industry will be developed.

This Consortium finds it very important to involve all relevant local stakeholders in the process of establishment of NTTO for which reason the project was initiated with two strategy workshops organised on the 2nd and 3rd of February at the premisses of the Ministry of Education and Science in Skopje. The first strategy workshop gathered participants from different Ministries, Chambers of Commerce, Academy of Sciences and Arts, Fund for Innovation and Technology Development, Agency for Promotion of Entrepreneurship, as well as Knowledge Center whereas the second strategy workshop was attended by public and private Universities from different parts of Macedonia, as well as companies with strong research and innovation potential and activities.

Workshops as well as individual interviews held during those two days provided the project team with valuable information regarding the status quo in the area of technology transfer in Macedonia, as well as the opportunities and threats connected to such a Centre. The Consortium is looking forward to the upcoming period and the challenging task of developing the National Technology Transfer Office in Macedonia, which will truly respond to the needs of this country and its scientific and business community.
