PATTERNS Lectures 2012/2013: Kick-off Meeting held in Vienna

Vienna. From June 17th to 19th, the Kick-off Meeting for the project “PATTERNS Lectures 2012/2013”  took place in Vienna.

The project PATTERNS Lectures is initiated by ERSTE Foundation and implemented by WUS Austria and encourages the development of new university courses in the fields of art history, cultural theory, and cultural studies in Central and South Eastern Europe. The respective Call for Applications has resulted in 58 eligible applications out of which the PATTERNS Lectures Advisors selected 13 concepts.

This Kick-off meeting gathered the whole PATTERNS Lectures “community”: 17 university lecturers from 9 countries representing all 13 selected course proposals, the four PATTERNS Lectures Advisors, and representatives from ERSTE Foundation and WUS Austria.

Through a mixed program of plenary, group and individual meetings, presentations and discussions as well as several informal get-togethers (e.g. a joint visit to the exhibition “At your service” at the Technical Museum Vienna with a guided tour by the curators), the meeting aimed at the creation of a sustainable network and the provision of a forum for rich exchange of ideas and expectations by giving and receiving feedback in different work settings as well as in many informal talks.

More information on the project and the complete list of selected courses 2012/2013 can be found at www.patternslectures.org.
