PhD@UP: Consortium meeting and workshop on the topic of research methods and equipment in Prishtina

Prishtina. In the framework of the TEMPUS project: “PhD in Food Science and  Food Technology and Creating Capacities for PhD Reform at the University of Prishtina/ Kosovo”, financed by European Commission, the third consortium meeting and a workshop were organized on the 12th and 13th of June at the University of Prishtina, Kosovo.

The Consortium meeting gathered all partners involved in the project and it allowed fruitful discussions on many topics regarding the upcoming activities and next steps in the project implementation. It was reported by the lead partners that many activities are well underway. University of Prishtina was happy to announce that the newly developed PhD programme in Food Science and Technology was recently approved by the UP Senate and has been submitted for accreditation at the Kosovo Accreditation Agency. Also, the tendering procedure for the purchase of laboratory equipment has been organized and is currently ongoing.

Within the work packages focusing on the development of capacities for the PhD reform at the University of Prishtina three training topics have been identified and contents drafted in a separate workshop session. Trainings will start in the fall of this year and will target all stakeholders from the University of Prishtina as well as student organizations.

Within the workshop that was held on the second day, partners from the Technical University Munich and University of Granada presented the research methods students are using at their universities as well as relevant research projects. The discussion focused on the needs of the staff of the University of Prishtina in terms of research methods and training needs on the use of laboratory equipment. The next steps were discussed and decided upon – details regarding upcoming study visits and trainings, as well as the proceedings regarding development of research methods.
