COMPETENCE: Training held in Novi Sad, Serbia

Novi Sad/Sremski Karlovci. At the bank of Danube in Novi Sad the fifth project meeting and training was organized at the University of Novi Sad from September 29th until October 1st. The training topics focused on working with competence catalogues and dissemination of the project philosophy and results.  Furthermore, a study visit to the brick and ceiling blocks factory “Strazilov” in Sremski Karlovci was organized within the scope of this event in order to get insight in the already existing cooperation between university and industry in that region.

The project "COMPETENCE - Matching competences in higher education and economy: From competence catalogue to strategy and curriculum development" started in January 2009. It aims at improving the link between university education and the labor market by focusing on matching the competences acquired at universities and the ones demanded on the labor market. Methodology and tools developed so far are publicly available at the project web page (see below). Project focuses on four partner Universities in West Balkan and it is based on the knowledge and experience transfer between them and the three EU partners.

In the upcoming phase of the project major efforts will be made in the area of project dissemination in order to make already established Competence Observation Centers (COC) true public service institutions, i.e. to allow them to offer their services to all stakeholders – faculties, universities, national agencies.

Thanks to our wonderful hosts from Novi Sad within the scope of this visit we had the opportunity to visit the Petrovaradin fortress, to taste national food and to listen to traditional music.
