More than 250,000 EUR Approved for Development of 1 PhD and 3 Master Programs!

Sarajevo. On Tuesday, December 23rd 2008, a Selection Commission meeting for WUS Austria’s Degree Development Structure (DDS) project was held in ACCESS Center in Sarajevo.  DDS is being implemented within WUS Austria’s program “Austrian Support to BH Higher Education in 2008 – 2011”, which is financed by Austrian Development Cooperation.

The project Degree Development Structure (DDS) within “Austrian Support to Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2008-2011” program supports faculties in the development of tailor-made and labor market relevant study programs for 2nd and 3rd degree cycles  whose curriculum will be created in partnerships with Austrian / EU higher education institutions in twinning or cooperation projects and with local and international companies.

In accordance with the Contract for "Austrian Support to B-H Higher Education 2008 -2011", the Selection Commission for approval of DDS applications consists of Secretary generals from 8 B-H public universities, representatives of Austrian Development Cooperation, and representatives of WUS Austria. The Selection Commission meeting was attended by:

  • Dušanka Dragić (Secretary General, University of Banja Luka)
  • Asija Cucak (Secretary General, University of Bihać)
  • Zoran Kazazić (Secretary General,  University Džemal Bijedić in Mostar)
  • Zoran Selesković (Secretary General, University of Sarajevo)
  • Jasmina Berbić (Secretary General, University of Tuzla)
  • Mediha Arnaut (Secretary General, University of Zenica)
  • Dino Mujkić (WUS Austria Regional Manager for B&H)
  • Nina Kovač (WUS Austria Project Manager)
  • Jadranka Barić (WUS Austria Program Officer)

Final decisions were based on results of pre-selection procedures which included: MUST criteria fulfillment, technical assessment, international expert evaluations (Academic content, Bologna conformity and Labour market relevance), local expert evaluation (Labour market relevance), and pre-monitoring meetings.

Out of 5 received applications, the following ones were approved:

  1. PhD in ICT, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Banja Luka (Project coordinator: Ms. Zdenka Babić, PhD)
  2. Master in Quality Management in Health Care, School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo (Project coordinator: Mr. Kemal Kačapor, MSc)
  3. Master of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Technical Engineering, University of Bihać (Project coordinator: prof. Isak Karabegović, PhD)
  4. Master in Food Analysis, Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, University of Sarajevo (Project coordinator: prof. Esma Velagić-Habul, PhD)

The total amount approved for implementation of these four projects is 252.520,00 EUR.
