Sustaining the use of case study method at the University of Prishtina through workshop organization

“Challenges in applying the Case Study Method in the Teaching Process”, was the topic of a one day workshop organized in Prishtina on December 17th, 2008. The seminar was intended to provide more direct information and knowledge on the Case Study Method (CSM) more specifically to the professors, assistants and students of technical and economics faculties of the University of Prishtina.

The workshop started with the “Opening Part” and welcoming speeches were given by: Mr. Andreas Fritz, Austrian Development Cooperation, Mrs. Ardiana Bunjaku, Society of of Certified Accountants and Audits of Kosova (SCAAK), and But Dedaj, WUS Austria Office in Prishtina. In the introduction given by Mrs. Ardiana Bunjaku, facts and arguments about the use of CSM by SCAAK were mentioned, whereas a special emphasis was also put in the creation of links between the society and economy through its use.

The first part of the seminar focused on Challenges in applying the Case Study Method in the Teaching Process, and was prepared and delivered by Mr. Seb Rodiqi, Professor at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Whereas, the second part reflected the international perspective on the use of CSM and was presented by Mr. Liam Coughlan, Team Leader of a Project financed by the European Agency for Reconstruction (implemented at SCAAK).

The workshop foreseen to be organized within the project of Balkan Case Challenge has the goal of sustaining the use of case study method beyond the competition and project itself. It is planned and expected that this kind of project will be implemented in all ADC countries. The project is financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC).  The Workshop was attended by 30 participants.
