Second Meeting of Project Consortium „From Quality Assurance to Strategy Development – QASD (JEP_41078_2006)”

Sarajevo. The second meeting of the Consortium Committee took place in Sarajevo from November 10-11, 2008. This meeting served as a valuable cross-cutting activity – an opportunity to present achieved outcomes and discuss future project implementation, partner responsibilities and all technical details pertaining to implementation of the TEMPUS project „From Quality Assurance to Strategy Development“.

In the first part of the meeting, the project coordinator (WUS Austria) presented current developments and future steps in project implementation.

Apart from University of Tuzla and University of Girona, representatives of all project consortium members participated in the meeting, including the grant applicant (University of Graz), thirteen representatives from seven BiH universities, SUS BiH, the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance, and WUS Austria.

The second part of the meeting was held on November 11, 2008 in the Student centre ACCESS. Dr. Wolfgang Benedek, Representative of the project contractor (University of Graz) and Chairman of WUS Austria, opened the Consortium Meeting which was chaired by Mr. Adi Kovačević, MSc, Executive Director of WUS Austria.

During the meeting, short presentations of BiH partner institutions were delivered. The list of presentations and speakers is as follows:

  • Progress report, Mr. Miroslav Dragić, QA coordinator, University of Banja Luka
  • Progress report, Ms Jasmina Ibrahimpašić, QA coordinator, University of Bihać
  • Progress report, Mr. Alim Abazović, QA coordinator, University „Džemal Bijedić“ in Mostar
  • Progress report, Mr. Nenad Marković, QA coordinator, University of East Sarajevo
  • Progress report, Dr. Snježana Rezić, QA coordinator and and Dr. Dražena Tomić, Vice-Rector, University of Mostar
  •  Progress report, Mr. Zoran Selesković, Secretary General, University of Sarajevo
  • Progress report, dr. Darko Petković, Vice-rector, University of Zenica and QA coordinator of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials, University of Zenica

These presentations thematically evolved around university QA system and activities implemented within the TEMPUS project. University representatives presented the status of implementation of project activities at their universities, informed about completed activities and those in progress, as well as upcoming. The representatives of the universities also presented a short description of internal and external factors that influence the implementation of certain activities.

Based on an analysis of all presentations, the meeting’s conclusion was that the implementation of the project (by universities) achieved significant progress, but that the status of project implementation is quite heterogeneous at different BiH universities. However, most activities will be completed in accordance with the anticipated deadlines. In addition, this meeting was very useful in terms of exchange of experience between universities, as well as an opportunity for strengthening cooperation in specific areas.

Among the speakers was also Mr. Dino Mujkic, MSc, Regional Manager of WUS Austria who delivered a presentation on Project management, timetable and future activities.

As is usual WUS Austria practice, all participants were kindly asked to answer a WUS Austria questionnaire and in such a way share their views on the quality of project management as well as on the development of quality assurance in BiH.
