Project description

The Balkan Case Challenge (BCC) is an annual international case study competition and recruitment event with a focus on South-Eastern Europe. It aims at opening up opportunities and new perspectives for excellent students from South-Eastern Europe through strengthening links between higher education andemployment and by the provision of concrete job opportunities. In addition, the Balkan Case Challenge contributes to an increased awareness about the potentials of South-Eastern Europe/ the Balkans - being an integrative part of a joint Europe.

The BCC case study competitions are aiming at promoting outstanding students. The competition has adopted the case study method developed as a learning tool at Harvard University in order to promote its use as a modern, practice-oriented method of learning.

Highly motivated students are provided with a chance to demonstrate and apply their theoretical skills in practice-oriented simulations, individually as well as in teams, in front of an international jury composed of experts from universities, companies and international institutions. Local sub-competitions in all countries ensure that only the best qualify for the finals in Vienna where 140 participants are invited every year to show their talent. Students apply online to participate in one of the following disciplines:

  • Business Case Competitions for students from economics, business administration and management;
  • ICT Case Competition for students from information technologies;
  • Law Moot Court for law students;
  • Model European Council for students from political sciences, international relations and diplomacy.

The Balkan Case Challenge is a project of WUS Austria, financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation and supported by numerous companies and institutions.
