Wolfgang Benedek, Professor
Position within the company: Director of the Supervisory Board
Wolfgang Benedek is a founding member of WUS Austria and has served as its chairman since 1992. In this function, he chairs the board of WUS Austria, which gives the overall direction for the work of the organisation and assists the development of its activities. He has been instrumental for developing WUS programs in the Balkans to assist students and universities during the war-time of the 90s and after.
Wolfgang Benedek is professor of international law at the University of Graz, with a focus on human rights, human security and international economic law and also teaches at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy and the Master Programmes on Human Rights and Democratisation in Venice and Sarajevo. His support for the universities of Sarajevo and Prishtina in particular has been recognized by honorary doctorates and an honorary citizenship of Sarajevo.

Mag. Almir Kovačević
Position within the company: Executive Director
Almir Kovacevic is Executive Director of WUS Austria. As such, he is responsible for the management of WUS Austria's head office in Graz and the regional offices in Belgrade, Podgorica, Prishtina, and Sarajevo.
Almir Kovacevic is responsible for the following areas: organization management (people and program coordination) fundraising, PR, communication marketing, budgeting and finance issues, international coordination. He is in charge of internal quality assurance and monitoring of the WUS Austria projects in South-Eastern Europe.
Almir Kovacevic is particularly interested in technological transfer and in cooperation between universities and economic sector.
Almir Kovacevic earned a Master degree in Sport Sciences from the University of Graz.

Veronika Nitsche, MBA
Position within the company: Member of the Executive Board, Deputy Director
Veronika Nitsche has been working for WUS Austria since 2001. The key qualifications of Veronika Nitsche are international project management, organizational development and fundraising and she has a profound knowledge of trends and developments in higher education. Consequently, her main tasks are the development and implementation of projects in the field of higher education in South-Eastern Europe. Additionally, through her long experience in the non-profit-sector, she contributes as a member of the Executive Board to the strategic objectives of the organisztion. Veronika Nitsche earned a degree in "International Project Management" and the MBA in General Management from the University of Graz.

Mag. Nina Beširević
Position within the company: Member of Executive Board, Head of Projects
Nina Beširević joined WUS Austria as Program Coordinator in November 2005. She is responsible for the Brain Gain Program (BGP), the Curriculum Development Program (CDP+) and the eLearning Program. Her overall work experience is connected to cross-national project management and project coordination in the field of support projects to Vocational and Higher Education in all countries of South Eastern Europe (SEE). One of her key qualifications is the introduction and development of training firms in the education processes in SEE.
Nina Beširević earned a Master's Degree in Philosophy/ Translation Studies from the University of Graz and a Diploma in Journalism from the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mag. Andreas Krammer
Position within the company: Project Officer
Andreas Krammer started working for the WUS Austria Head Office in Graz in May 2008 as Academic Coordinator for the BCC and is therefore responsible for the academic quality of the BCC. He earned a Masters Degree in "Slavic Studies" and brings in several years of work experience in regional management.

Mag.a Martina Handler, M.A.
Position within the company: Member of the Executive Board, Deputy Head of Projects
Martina Handler joined the WUS Austria Team in October 2007. She is responsible for the management of several projects in the areas of Higher Education Development, Arts and Culture and Higher Education & Human Rights and is a part of the project development team of WUS Austria.
She brings in several years of work experience in international projectmanagement, event organization and PR for the Austrian women’s empowermentorganization “Women without Borders”.
She earned her first degree in Communication Science with a special focus on intercultural communication at the University of Vienna and has a background in journalism. In 2007, she finished her M.A. in Peace, Development and Conflict Transformation at the Universities of Innsbruck and Castellón/ Spain.

Aida Pasalic
Position within the company: Project and Financial Manager; on educational leave
Aida Pasalic works for WUS Austria Head Office Graz since November 2004. Her current responsibilities within the organization focus on finance and controlling.

Mag. Clemens Juriga
Position within the company: Member of the Executive Board, Head of Finance
Clemens Juriga joined WUS Austria in November 2007 to support the team in charge of financial issues, controlling of the organization and European project management.
His expertise in project management and finance derives from his previous vocational experiences in the field of European project management and his academic background. His activities within the organization will especially include the internal accounting process, budget coordination of funding projects and working on EU projects.
Clemens Juriga earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Karl-Franzens University of Graz in 2007.

Mag. Roland Humer
Position within the company: External Employee
Roland Humer has worked for WUS Austria as a subcontractor since June 2007. His company, founded at the same time, realizes projects in the education and training sector. In addition to WUS Austria, Roland Humer works for Austrian universities.
Roland Humer holds a Master’s Degree in international business administration. He gained experience in educational management in a private language institute and during a three year assignment at the Rector’s Council of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. In the latter position, he coordinated this university’s EQUIS accreditation. His expertise for South-Eastern Europe derives from postgraduate studies in Balkanology, and a half-year study & work experience in Zagreb, Croatia.

Mag.a Maria Brunnhofer
Position within the company: Project Manager; on maternity leave
Maria Brunnhofer joined WUS Austria as Project Manager in May 2010. She is responsible for the Balkan Case Challenge which is a case study competition for excellent students from South Eastern Europe and Austria. She also works on the Tempus project KIKT that aims at improving the conditions for the development of professional research capacities and PhD study programs at the University of Prishtina, Kosovo.
Maria Brunnhofer earned a Diploma Degree in English and a combination of studies from the Karl-Franzens University of Graz. She gained experience in educational and project management during a six year assignment at the International Office of the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business).

MMag. Ines Suh
Position within the company: Project Officer
Ines Šuh joined WUS Austria as a student in charge of the Business Case Competition within the scope of the Balkan Case Challenge (BCC). In 2010 she assumed the position of a Project Officer and is responsible for curriculum development and visiting professors projects financed by the Austrian Development Agency and the ERSTE Stiftung (BGP+, CDP+, PATTERNS_Lectures). Additionally, she supports the EU funded Tempus project Competence which aims at further development of competence based curricula and strengthening the link between universities and the labor market.
Ines Šuh earned a double Master’s Degree in Business Administration (International Management and Finances) from the University of Graz. She is currently enrolled in a PhD program at the same institution.

Mag.a Michaela Handke, MES
Position within the company: Project Officer
Michaela Handke joined WUS Austria as Project Officer in May 2010. Within the company she gives support to EU Projects (Tempus) including project development (IPA) and manages PR related issues.
She holds a degree in Slavic Studies/Russian from the Karl-Franzens University in Graz and finished a second degree in European Studies at the University of Vienna in autumn 2009. Her previous work experience relates to the fields of migration and development.

Brigitte Sihorsch
Position within the company: Office administrator
Brigitte Sihorsch joined WUS Austria as Office Administrator in April 2010.
She is responsible for the back office and supports the WUS-Team in all administrative matters.
In the past twenty years she was involved in several education and health projects in Turkey, Guatemala and Albania.
